DATES & DEADLINES - August 2023

Retirement Plan Sponsors,

It’s August which means the July 31st deadline has passed. You have either filed the Form 5500 (along with any associated Retirement Plan Audit) with the Department of Labor, or used the Form 5558 to request an extension to October 16, 2023 (the 15th falls on a weekend this year) and you have some time to get all the loose-ends wrapped up.

Take a breath, have a cocktail (if it’s your thing), and savor the quiet of this point of the year regarding the retirement plan.

August 14th is the deadline for 2nd quarter statements to be distributed (45 days into the next quarter) for participant directed Defined Contribution plans. This is likely handled with your retirement plan recordkeeping partner, and likely distributed electronically unless participants have requested a papered copy to be mailed to them
